Kickin Oil Slick Skin to the Curb! Amazing Bentonite Clay

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

June is right around the corner and that means hot humid weather. If you have combo skin like me, this also means annoying oily skin and a shiny forehead..lol. As much as I LoVe summer, I hate dealing with my oily t-zone. Not to fret a powerhouse of nature can help not only clear out pores and remove oil and debris...but also tighten the skin and reduce the size of pores...thus reducing those nasty forehead oil slicks. Its the power of the pulse also known as Aztec Bentonite Green Clay here to save the day.
*Bonus* this quick summer facial only takes 10 mins of your day to see great results, you could do this once a week or bi-weekly.
All you need:
(l-r) Coconut Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar, Vitamin E, Aztec Healing Clay and a mixing bowl & teaspoonI prefer to use Coconut Vinegar in my facial mixtures and ACV in my hair mixtures, due to the acidity levels. Coconut Vinegar is slightly less acidic but not by much.
Take 3 teaspoons of Aztec Clay add it to the mixing bowl...
Add 6-8 drops of Vitamin E and stir together.
Then slowly add vinegar while stirring. Adding just enough so that the mixture is smooth but not runny.
Stir until its a evenly smooth consistency and not too runny or thick.
As shown on the video clip it should glide on the face and adhere. This not only minimizes any mess, but also insures your skin is getting all the benefits from the clay mixture. Also make sure its evenly spread and not too thick in any area on your face. If its too think it will be difficult to rinse off later.
Now that you have it applied get ready to feel the pulse:0)....Don't be alarmed this is the clay doing its magic; detoxing the skin and tightening those enlarged pores.
I applied it over my entire face. But it could also just be applied to problem oily areas like the T-zone.
As the mask dries it will start to harden and crack, this is normal.  Allow it to sit for about 10 mins.
It takes about 8-10 minutes for the mask to harden and you can loosen it with a white steamy face clothe. Just tilt head back and place the hot damp towel on the face for a minute or 2. Then remove the mask with  warm water or a facial brush if you have one. I then follow up by swiping my T-zone with witch hazel and applying an oil free facial moisturizer with SPF for sun protection. When its hot and sticky out, I skip on the makeup and just allow my skin to breath and sweat.
Healthy skin never goes out of style and this simple mask is a key element in my skin care regimen:0)

Easing the Annoyance of JetLag...Sleep Like a Baby

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Finally a natural jetlag/insomnia solution that really does work....yeeaaahhh. If you are like me and travel from time zone to time zone weekly, you too probably also suffer from chronic jetlag and insomnia. *sigh* the downside of constant travel.
I personally need to get more rest to allow my body to heal from some internal ailments, so finding a remedy for this jetlag has taken priority in my life. I’ve had to find ways to make me sleep without using harsh drugs and chemicals:0/…. So far these tips have been a HUGE lifesaver and very effective. I not only fall asleep I wake up with more energy and focus to handle anything I have to get done for the day.
Depending on the number of days your trip will have you  away from your home time zone is going to determine intially how you "set" your bodies time clock. This will also vary on how many time zones you cross over into. Here are a few senerios for example:
A: You live on the east coast but will be traveling to the west coast for 3 days. The best way to ensure your body suffers the least amount of jetlag is actually to remain on your regular time zone. Sounds strange but realize this is only a 3 day trip...not a full 5-7 day week. To better adjust go to sleep at the regular time you would at home. When its midnight in L.A. its actually 3am in New York, unless you are up partying it would better suit your body to go to rest at that time.
B: You are going on a 7 day internatinal trip to Asia. There is a 12 hour time change and it is a 12 hour fight. Try to actually stay up during the flight...walk around and stretch your muscles, meditate, read and watch movies. When you land, this is when you should take a nap and wake up in the countries perspective timezone. i.e. You land at 8am set your alarm clock to their time to wake up in the afternoon and continue your day at that point on that timezone. This helps you adjust to sleeping and waking up more rested to fully enjoy your trip while there.
...Coming back from such a long trip simply do the same thing, to re-adjust back to your home timezone.

For those of us who constanly do this type of traveing on a weekly bases we may need more help to allow the brain to relax and the body to adjust to the various time zones. Honesty I actually live in a central time zone yet I work on the east coast...as well as travel globally. So my sleep pattern is a hot mess and was all over the place, if I slept at all. But these steps have truely helped me get on a more regulated sleep schedule.
Trader Joes Organic Ginger Pear and Decaf Green Tea
Melatonin 3mg
Step1: About 1hour- 45 mins before you think you may want to sleep drink a cup of natural herbal tea. I’m a Trader Joes fan so I currently choose between:
  • Organic Green Tea
  • Chamomille and Jasmine Blend
  • Ginger Pear Blend
If Im at home I’ll add Honey…if Im on the road ill add 1/2 tsp Stevia.
Step2: Take 1~ 3mg Melatonin tablet....Melatonin is also available in doses up too 10mg, however thats too powerful for my system. It is  a natural sleep aid, yet very potent so only take this when you are comfy and ready to drift off to sleep.
Step3: Drop the temp of the room to about 65-70 degrees…chilly but not cold. Chose a temp that not too hot so that you can avoid waking up during the night due to sweating and hot flashes.

ITunes Sleep Aid Apps ~ Free
Step4: Ambience mood noises can calm the mind mind and help relax the body. So I have downloaded a few sleep and meditation apps on my Ipad(hotel room or at home) and Iphone(on airplane) thats wonderful for peaceful sounds. I prefer the Australian Beach, Cave, Spa Music, or Light Rain sounds to help me drift off to sleep.
Once this all kicks in prepare to sleep like a baby..quickly and actually the entire night. I’m really amazed that this really works for me and hopes it works for you as well.
Safe travels and Sweet dreams. Don't forget to subscribe:0)...Thank You!

Ayuverdic Spa Care Indulgence. Pamper yourself on a budget!

Anytime I'm under stress or pressure I have to just unwind and purge my body of toxins *aside from champagne*...I actually drink champagne when I do spa treatments.lol.

Anyway... I normally complete a clarification treatment at the end of the month, so I decided to go ahead and handle it today. When I travel to the middle east I stock up on Ayuverdic oils, powders and haircare. So on this latest trip to Dubai earlier this month I re-stocked my cabinet with Pure Amla oil & Amla Powder, Blackseed Oil and Wheat Germ.
Today I  mixed together a SUPER mask consisting of not only Clarifying Bentonite Clay and Nourishing Amla powder. After shifting the powders together I combined an oil blend of 1 tsp each:
Wheat Germ Oil
BlackSeed Oil
Sulfur Oil
Olive Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Once adding the oils 1 by 1 to the powders it makes it clumpy. Simply loosen the clumps with the spoon so everything is evenly distributed.

I then added a hot mixture of Black English Tea and Aloe Vera Juice into the powder/oils. Mix until its completely mixed with a nice consistency that is easy to apply to the hair. After the mixture is the consistency I like ( not to thick and not too runny an thin) I allow it to sit about an hour to allow all the ingredients too "breathe" together and really absorb into the powders.

I prefer to apply Ayuverdic mask to damp freshly washed hair so that it really adheres to the hair. To make the application easier I apply it in the shower after shampoo'ing the hair. I used Nioxin and Cream of Nature Argan Shampoo . I mix these two products together because while the Nioxin thickens the hair its also drying. The Cream of Nature Argan shampoo balances out that drying effect with moisture so my hair doesn't feel stripped. After allowing the shampoo to sit 5 mins and rinsing throughly.

I then apply the mask from root to tip in sections and massage it onto my scalp.
I allow the mask to sit on my hair normally  4-5 hours or even overnight for best penetration and enhancement of my coils. You can determine how long is best for you to leave it on, as it does vary for me from time to time.
Once this is rinsed I then Deep Condition with a moisture rich mask and apply leave-in's and style as usual.
Once this mask is fully rinsed so are all my tensions and stress. Not only does my hair feel great so does my overall vibe. Check it out Ayuverdic care really does help calm the body as well as enhance the hair.
Its a Win-Win:0)
